1. The payment institution
All payments on the Platform are processed by an authorised payment institution, supervised as a payment institution within the EEA (currently Trustap Ltd). Its registered particulars and its supervising authority are stated in its own terms, presented to you within the Platform. Farm Fayre never receives, holds or transmits your money at any moment: funds sit with the payment institution in segregated safeguarded accounts from payment to release. Farm Fayre instructs the movements these terms and the User Agreement describe; the payment institution executes them.
2. Your agreement with the payment institution
To send or receive money on the Platform you must also accept Trustap’s Terms of Service as published and amended at https://www.trustap.com/terms (accessed 7 September 2026), presented to you within the Platform, and complete its identity verification when asked. Those terms govern your payment relationship with the institution and state their own governing law; these Farm Fayre terms remain governed by Irish law. The payment institution handles payment data to provide its services and acts independently for its own legal obligations, including customer due diligence.
3. Verification before payout
Registering and listing are immediate. Before any payout can be made to you, the payment institution must have completed its identity and account checks. The Platform shows your verification state and walks you through completion; a payout is never attempted until those checks are complete.
4. The verified-offeror deposit
Before your first offer you place a verified-offeror deposit (a standing refundable deposit) of €250 with the payment institution. It signals to every seller that offers are real. The deposit gates access to making offers only: it places no limit or link on what you may offer or spend. One deposit covers all your activity on the Platform; it is held separately and is never merged with a purchase payment.
Your deposit is returned when your purchase funds land in full, unless you have other live offers, and you may choose to leave it parked for future trading; a parked deposit is never charged again. After three completed trades you may apply for reduced deposit rules. A deposit is forfeited only where you complete a purchase and then fail to pay within the payment window and a documented extension, and only after human review and attempts to reach you; a forfeited deposit compensates the seller for the failed sale and the costs it caused.
5. Paying for a purchase
At completion you see the full figures line by line before you confirm: stock, the weight allowance where the lot is By Weight, Farm Fayre fees, haulage, and the payment institution line. On confirmation you receive the transfer details: account, exact amount, and your unique payment reference, mirrored by email. Payment is due within 48 hours in banking time; a Saturday completion is due Tuesday evening. One 24-hour extension is available.
Some banks send a first transfer to a new payee in two parts. The Platform shows each part as it lands and treats them as one payment. Cattle move only when the full amount has landed.
6. Holding, adjustment and release
From landing to release, funds are held by the payment institution to the Platform’s release instruction, which is given only when the conditions in the User Agreement are met: payment in full, delivery made, and no open issue. A raised issue pauses release until resolved. Where a By Weight settlement adjusts within the allowance, the adjusted figures apply and any balance returns to the buyer at settlement; where an agreed top-up is needed, release waits for it.
7. Settlement to everyone at once
On release, the single settlement pays its recipients: the seller, any allowance balance to the buyer, Farm Fayre’s fees, the haulier, and any connector fee. Settlement Figures issue to the parties. Payouts go to the account you verified with the payment institution.
8. Refunds and cancellation
Refunds always return to source: the account the money came from. If a buyer never pays, the transaction cancels and the lot may relist at once. If a trade legitimately does not proceed at the weighbridge under the User Agreement, the buyer’s payment returns in full. Where a payment is reversed through a payment scheme after settlement, the party who received the funds bears the reversal, and Farm Fayre may recover amounts accordingly.
9. Limits and safeguards
Transactions on the Platform routinely run to tens of thousands of euro and the rails are built for it. The payment institution may decline, hold or investigate a payment to meet its legal obligations; where that happens Farm Fayre works with you and the institution to resolve it. Farm Fayre’s liability in relation to payments is as set out in the User Agreement; the payment institution’s liability to you is as set out in its own terms.
